A laptop re-imagined.

Having proven themselves capable of engineering a high performance tablet that doubles as a laptop, Microsoft has flipped the concept.

The Surface Book transforms from premium performance laptop to big-screen professional tablet simply by removing the display. 

The beauty is in how it achieves this.

The hinge.

Concealed titanium alloy wires tether the display securely to the keyboard during laptop use, ensuring a reliable electronic connection to the keyboard base with minimal wobble.

A single button electronically unlocks the display to allow you to flip it for Clipboard easel use, or remove it entirely for tablet use.

Dubbed the 'Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge', the hinge elongates as the display is opened up, helping to prevent tipping when used as a laptop.

The Clipboard.

The Surface Book's detachable tablet display measures 13.5" at a resolution of 3000x2000 pixels with excellent colour reproduction and visibility from any angle.

With pressure-sensitive pen and touch-based interactivity, the tablet display provides native Windows 10 interactivity whether used in laptop, Clipboard or tablet mode.

The Surface Book prioritises charging of the display's battery to help ensure it's ready for use as a separate tablet when you want it.

The keyboard.

The keyboard features backlit, full sized keys and a large glass touchpad.  The innovative hinge accommodates an air gap for more comfortable extended travel keys while eliminating key marks on your display's glass. 

Importantly, the keyboard base provides an extended battery to provide a total of up to 12 hours charge, extended ports and optional NVIDIA 3D graphics for power users and creatives in laptop and Clipboard easel mode.
